DAY 174 (Child v/s childhood..)

Well the topic might get offensive today...but I had to write about it. I also know that I am no one in terms of experience to comment on it too... but still...

The confused parents which I find all around me these days makes me feel ridiculous at times. Ridiculous in the sense that even they don't know what do they want. Everyone of them has a dream to see their child being number one in academics. If the child manages to do so, they want him to excel in sports. If that is also achievable, how come the child is not into cultural activities?

Some of them are so confused that they don't even let the child respond to their expectations. They just shove the child inside this roller-coaster and then never wait for the ride to stop!

Till around 5-6 years ago, this craziness used to start generally when the child was somewhere above 18. But now...it starts the moment the child is admitted to a playgroup school.

I am afraid that in an year..they will start kicking their asses the moment the child learns to speak his first word. And an year after that....probably the process will start the moment the child is delivered.

We (who were born in the 80's) are also not ancient! But we enjoyed all the stages of life. Childhood was childhood! We knew how to run, how to choose, how to get ourselves pampered, how to be cranky...and above all how to be free.

I am sure these parents of today's age must have enjoyed even more in their childhood....if its a mater of time! Then why the hell don't they give their own child now the least privilege of providing them of atleast their own level of childishness???

Why is it so important for them that their child is "grown-up", "matured", "all-rounder" n blah-blah!!!

Why can't the child just be a child first?

When I ask few of the parents about this question...they give me a straight answer "Its a competitive world!"
So What??? So what..if it is?

What will happen at the max?...Your child will fail?..Thats it?

Atleast he will not be afraid of failing thereafter!

I guess..its just that now the world has turned upside-down. In this cat-fights and dog-races all that has happened is-
The little ones have grown-up and the elder ones have shrunk down!
And thats a pity...

    You are absolutely right about this post. I believe this happens due to the comparison with others. Children will get less stress or mental pressure if people/parents stop doing comparison and let the children do what they want to do or let them be what they are.

    Every one knows about all these things but still when it comes to their child they forget about it.

    @ankit...its more like getting our dreams fulfilled by passing them on to our children which is unfair!

DAY 313 (Retrospection)

There always comes a time in life when you retrospect past few months/years and decide what needs changing. Sometimes the changes are in your routine, sometimes the people surrounding you and other times starting new things for your own good. My retrospection gave me all three recently! It is overwhelming to realize at times that you were roaming in the wrong lanes and had you not done this exercise, you might have done a lot of damage to your own.  I got this habit or rather this alarm of awareness ever since I was in 9th standard or somewhere around same age where I kind of auto-fix myself with this exercise. It is usually a hit and trial but the self awareness makes me more independent every time I do it. This exercise is also very helpful in thinking about myself (just me and no one else) which no one else would do so selflessly. DAY 41 (G-talk...Men not allowed..!!!)

Oh..I knew it..!!! Reading the title would have applied all forces of magnetism to all the guys there...and this post is gonna get visited by record-breaking number of guys...he he!! But..you know what boys???...its gonna award you with nothing mouth-watering (yes I know what you are hoping for..!!!) So...all my girl-friends lets start the group discussion here.. Actually I wanna check if I am an exception here (which i do not think I am)...or is it the regular scenario?? Well...the general perception says that girls are freakingly obsessed about their regular visits to beauty parlours just to cover up the the little flaws they have in their looks.
